Canada vs Scotland

Kickoff: 12pm Saturday 6th September

Venue: Sandy Park

Watch on: BBC TWO

This game will determine who finishes first and who finishes second. Canada have performed as expected in both games and are expected to beat Scotland fairly comfortably. Scotland, on the other hand, have had an excellent World Cup and will look at this game as a free shot at a big name. The record between these teams heavily favours Canada. the North Americans have  won the 6 games between these two teams and have not lost to Scotland since 1994. However, these stats should be taken with a grain of salt as the last encounter between Canada and Scotland was in 2018 so there is no recent history from which we can properly extrapolate for insight on the outcome of this fixture.

There are only two changes from Canada's 42-0 victory over Wales. In the back row, Forteza replaces Crossley and Corrigan is replaced by Farries on the right wing. Like Canada, Scotland will go into this game with a relatively unchanged side. The only changes come in the front row with Skeldon replacing Martin at hooker and Cockburn replacing Clarke at tighthead prop.

Wales vs Fiji

Kickoff: 2:45pm Saturday 6th September

Venue: Sandy Park

Watch on: BBC TWO

These two sides find themselves in similar, but also vastly different, situations. Neither of these teams can progress to the knockout rounds but this game holds very different potential for both. Fiji were not expected to progress and competed well against Scotland. This Welsh team looks ripe for the taking and Fiji will view this as a huge opportunity to earn a massive victory at this World Cup for an inexperienced team. Wales, on the other hand, have had a dismal tournament. They have not scored a single point for over 2 hours of rugby and will need a huge turnaround to avoid embarrassment this Saturday. Fijiana showed against Scotland that they can rip apart any defence regardless of the conditions and the Welsh defence has not exactly been convincing.

Sean Lynn has made a few changes to his side. Carys Phillips will replace Molly Reardon at hooker and Georgia Evans has moved from the back row to the second row at the expense of Abbie Fleming. This allows for Alex Callender to return to the starting XV. The half backs and centres remain unchanged but the back three has been shuffled. Kayleigh Powell has been named at fullback. Also comfortable at fly half, Powell will look to add more control to the kicking game and boost the Welsh cause in the territorial battle. To accommodate Powell, Metcalfe has shifted to the left wing, Neumann has move to the right wing and Joyce-Butchers has dropped to the bench. There are enough good players in this Wales squad to beat Fiji and build for the future with a relatively new head coach who has an excellent resume.

For Fiji, Marawa and Naiwesa come into the front row. The inclusion of Marawa comes after a red card for Tawake against Scotland. In the second row, Nakesa is replaced by Serevi. The other changes come on the wings with Stolz and Nakoci being replaced by Lomani and Repeka Adi Tove.
