Ireland vs Japan

Kickoff: 12pm, Sunday 24th August

Venue: Franklin's Gardens

Watch on: BBC TWO (UK)

Ireland come into this game knowing that a big win is expected. Japan have shown promise in recent months but are still nowhere near Ireland's level. The important part of this game for Ireland is how players like Dannah O'Brien and Stacey Flood perform. They are great players but are young and should use this game as good preparation for the looming encounter with the Black Ferns in a couple of weeks.

New Zealand vs Spain

Kickoff: 5:30pm, Sunday 24th August

Venue: York Community Stadium

Watch on: BBC iPlayer (UK)

This game, like the other one in this pool, won't be close. The last time Spain played a team of New Zealand's calibre they lost by 90-points to England. Spain are looking slightly stronger than they did in that game but a similar score-line is to be expected. Even if Spain manage to keep the score to a reasonable level, the inevitable emergence of Portia Woodman-Wickliffe in the second half could be devastating to a tiring defence. New Zealand will expect to coast through this and will have their sights set on Ireland in their final game.
