This is a potentially defining game for Scotland. Winning their opening two games is crucial to their success and a win against Ireland would be a whole other level. Playing England has been quite fun for Scotland in recent years and beating Wales is expected at this point. The game against France would be a challenge but they need to beat one of Ireland or France to be in with a shot of glory. In order to make that happen, Gregor Townsend has brought in Tom Jordan to play inside centre. Dempsey is playing at 8 which moves Fagerson to 6 and RItchie to the bench.
For Ireland, this is also a monumental game, beating two of their 3 big challengers in the first two weeks would set them up well for the rest of the competition. Peter O'Mahony returns to the starting line-up in place of Baird who drops to the bench and Henshaw starts ahead of RIngrose. In another interesting move, Easterby has backed Prendergast to keep the 10 shirt ahead of Crowley despite Crowley being outstanding having come on from the bench. The game against England was only as close as it was due to Ireland missing opportunities in the English 22, against Scotland they won't be able to get away with being so wasteful. Ireland are the favourites and have dominated proceedings against Scotland in recent years, but is set up to be an epic clash. at Murrayfield.
