Lions
1.Andrew Porter 7.5
Strong at the scrum but was ineffective elsewhere. He was isolated for Jake Gordon's try but I find it hard to blame him for his teammates inability to fill in gaps next to a ruck.
2.Dan Sheehan 8
Was at his usual level and was the standout ball carrier upfront for the Lions. He showed impressive athleticism to score a jumping try which may, or may not, have been completely illegal. You can jump to score a try but cannot jump in order to evade a would-be tackler. Some have argued that Sheehan did both but the officials disagreed so I'll give him the credit. I tend to lean towards believing that it shouldn't have been a try but this is yet another example of the grey areas that exist within this sport.
3.Tadgh Furlong 6
He was more at fault for Gordon's try than Porter and had some handling issues. His carrying is the reason his rating is not lower.
4.Maro Itoje(C) 9
He was a nuisance throughout as he usually is and was a thorn in Australia's side all game. He was penalised for an an illegal rip early on but recovered well.
5.Ollie Chessum 7
This was a typical Chessum performance. He was industrious and made his presence felt throughout but didn't produce any highlight moments.
6.Tadhg Beirne 7
He was effective at the breakdown but was shown up physically by both Valetini and Gleeson.
7.Tom Curry 8
He scored a crucial try in the first half which kept the Lions in the test and was brilliant throughout - both at the breakdown and in open play more generally.
8.Jack Conan 5.5
Was generally unimpressive and lost the physical battle in a way that no number 8 should.
9.Jameson Gibson-Park 6.5
He struggled with playing on the back foot behind a struggling pack. His kicking left much to be desired. However, he stayed on for the full game and managed things well. His ability to control the tempo of the game was crucial in getting his side over the line.
10.Finn Russell 7
His quick-thinking kicking put Australia under more pressure than anything else in the first half. His passing lacked accuracy and he missed a couple of conversions in the first half.
11.James Lowe 6
He struggled for the majority of the game with his biggest struggles coming under the high ball and with his tackling. He missed several during the game but redeemed himself by scoring a great try in the second half.
12.Bundee Aki 7
He carried well but found himself exposed a couple of times in defence. He was beaten a couple of times by Sualii and looked uncomfortable when he had to play at outside centre after the addition of Owen Farrell to the line up
13.Huw Jones 7
He had a mixed game but will ultimately be remembered for his crucial try.
14.Tommy Freeman 6.5
He was yellow-carded in the first half and struggled to get into the game overall. However, he impressed with limited opportunities.
15.Hugo Keenan 7.5
He scored the last-minute winner that will go down in history and looked back to his best after a dodgy first test.
16.Ronan Kelleher 6.5
Was solid when he came on but didn't have the same impact as the man he replaced.
17.Ellis Genge 7.5
He brought a different dynamic to the game when he came on. He made a couple of mistakes but his overall impact on the game was positive.
18.Will Stuart 6.5
Had a good moment with a big carry but was also penalised for a second roll which didn't need to happen.
19.James Ryan 7
Many picked Scott Cummings to have this spot after his performance on Tuesday but Ryan showed everyone why Andy Farrell trusts him so much. He brought a physical edge to the game.
20.Jac Morgan 6.5
It was good to see some Welsh involvement, finally. He was also part of the last-minute try with an excellent, very legal clearout on Carlo Tizzano
21.Alex Mitchell N/A
22.Owen Farrell 5.5
Didn't do much but brought a calm presence and some control during some big moments. He did get embarrassingly knocked back by Harry Wilson but recovered well.
23.Blair Kinghorn 7
Was excellent when he came on and made a good line break with his limited opportunities.
