Freeman on fire

Northampton Saints 43 vs 31 Saracens

English wingers have been on fire so far this season and Tommy Freeman was never going to miss out. Freeman finished the first round of fixtures with a 4-try performance against Saracens. England are spoilt for choice in the wing department, but Freeman is surely the first name on the team-sheet. However, he may not even play on the wing and could line up at outside centre instead. Wherever he does play, Freeman will be a serious threat.

Quins back on track

Harlequins 52 vs 14 Newcastle Red Bulls

Harlequins have had a strange start to the season and hit rock bottom last week against Exeter. This time, they rebounded massively to ease past Newcastle. In truth, this game was never really in contest and Harlequins were never in any jeopardy. Newcastle clearly have a lot of work to do going forward and things aren't looking promising in the near future.

Chiefs continue good start against floundering Gloucester

Exeter Chiefs 39 vs 12 Gloucester

Exeter have been the surprise package of the season so far. One of the big stories has been the apparent improvement in the play of Harvey Skinner. The fly-half had already amassed a century of caps for his club but was yet to truly make the jersey his own. To the surprise of many, he has been given the shirt on his own and has made the most of his opportunities. The highlight of his season came last week when he completely outplayed Marcus Smith in heavy rain and he doesn't look like slowing down.

Gloucester, meanwhile, are walking wounded and need a break from the league to regather some lost confidence. They still have enough talent to turn things around but, once you're on a losing streak, it becomes very difficult to turn things around. The pressure is quickly mounting on George Skivington.

Bath dominate "class" clash

Bath 40 vs 15 Bristol Bears

Prior to kickoff, Ellis Genge dubbed this fixture "the battle of the classes". This time it was the supposed upper-classes that came out on top. Bristol started quickly but were inevitably pulled back and then decimated by their neighbours. Bath have cemented themevles as the favourites for the league by bouncing back quickly after a painful defeat to Leicester.

Sale still struggling in defence

Leicester Tigers 36 vs 35 Sale Sharks

Sale's defence continued to struggle against Leicester and eventually cost the team another game. This game was there to be won for the northerners, but they threw it away once again. England fans will be hoping that McGuigan leads England's defence to much more success than he is currently having with Sale Sharks.
